Children and Young People

Good Friday

A living, worshipping community is one of the few places in modern Britain where people can meet across generations and backgrounds.  At Lancaster Priory, children and teenagers take part in our worship as valued choir members, acolytes and readers. By sharing their time and talents they learn about their faith, get to know others and, above all, feel they belong, both to the Church and to God.

Carer and Toddler Group

Mini Marshmallows is on Fridays 10.00- 11.15, at the Marsh Community Centre

It is a friendly group that starts  with free play for the children and ends with songs, instruments and a story.

Young Church

Our aim on Sunday mornings is that the children will experience God’s love for them in the welcome they receive, the prayers they pray, and the Bible stories they learn; and we think they do this best when they are having fun.

We meet every Sunday morning at the 10.00am service during term time and most Sundays during the holidays. The children start the service with their parents and then, after the first hymn, go to their groups with their leaders. Children currently meet in the refectory. All children return at the end of the service to go with their parents to take Communion or receive a prayer of blessing.

If your child would prefer to stay with you during the service we have ‘Busy Bags’ that can be found at the back of church to help keep them entertained.

Children aged two and under are welcome to join but we request that Parents stay with them.

Preschool children, aged 3-4, are also welcome and parents are welcome to leave if they think their child is settled.

Children in Reception or above have their own brief short prayer and light a candle together, hear a Bible passage or story, and then explore the Bible passage through discussion, craft, games, acting, drawing and prayer.  This is done in smaller groups.

Youth Groups

Priory Youth Groups meet throughout the school year and also undertake organised social events, sporting activities, as well as study and discussion.

Pilgrims is our older group (From year 9 up).

Sunday Knights is our younger group (from year 5 up).

Both Youth Groups meet on a Sunday at 4pm, they begin together and then seperate into age appropriate activities.

Families@Four

Our Family Eucharist Service is for everyone to enjoy.

Children and their families are invited to worship and learn together in this adapted service.  It is a more informal and relaxed service where the whole family can worship together (and there is no Young Church/Sunday School provision).

The service takes a more family centred approach with much greater involvement from the congregation.

This service will be held on the fourth Sunday of the month. Please see our This Week page for details of the next service.
