Thursdays
12.30pm Holy Communion with Prayers for Healing (CW)
in St Thomas’ Chapel (right hand aisle, adjacent to the high altar)
This weekly service is one in which we pray for healing and reconciliation.
Our prayers are offered for individuals and communities in need, and we offer the laying on of hands and anointing with holy oil, as outward signs of our prayers and of the work of God in reconciling all things to himself in love.
You may want to come and receive prayer for yourself or equally, for someone you love or are concerned about or you may want to pray for broader concern.
All are welcome to join us in praying for God’s healing work in our world.
Baptism – the first step is Baptism Preparation – usually on every 1st Sunday of the month
The next preparation is 1st September at 3.30pm Baptism Preparation
The first Sunday of most months, (but not in August) we hold Baptism Preparation class.
Here you can meet a clergy member, hand in your filled in baptism forms and discuss your or your child/ren’s Baptism. Please email us to arrange to collect Baptism forms.
Please note that we are now booking baptisms from September 2024 onwards, there are no dates available before then.
Fourth Sunday of the month
4.00pm Families@4 on Sunday
The next two Families@4 service is next Sunday 21st July at 4pm with a Songs of Praise service
On the fourth Sunday of each month we invite children and their families to worship and learn together.
There is something in this service for everyone. It is an informal and relaxed service.
The service takes a more child centred approach with much greater involvement by the children from the congregation.
Children can read the lessons, prayers and participate in presentations.
Taizé Service 6.30pm
The next Taizé Service is on 14th July
(Choral Evensong does not take place on these dates.)
‘Taizé Prayer is evening prayer for all Christian faiths.
It is a simple, meditative form of worship, calling us to dwell deeply on Christ’s presence around and within us; songs, prayerful silence, and short readings guide the focus of the prayer in a candle-lit environment.’
Lectio Divina (Zoom) 8.00 – 9.30pm
The next Lectio Divina next takes place on Monday, 8th July 2024.
Lectio Divina or divine reading represents an ancient Christian practice of praying with Scripture. It became a regular practice in monasteries by the time of St. Benedict in the 6th century.
It will be led by Joop Brouwer. If you are interested in joining this live online interactive session, please email Nigel Stewart at: n.stewart@lancaster.ac.uk. Nigel will then email you a link to the next meeting.
