New appointment – Director of Music at Lancaster Priory - 09/04/25
Hot off the press! It has been confirmed that Nicholas Hurndall Smith will be the Director of Music at Lancaster Priory.
Nicholas says:
‘I’m thrilled to have been offered the chance to become the new Director of Music at Lancaster Priory.
It will be a wonderful prospect to develop a relationship with the choir and build its reputation over the coming years, and to enjoy the privilege of helping Rev’d Leah Vasey-Saunders to lead our worship. The Priory offers an excellent cultural and musical focus for the people of Lancaster, and this is something which attracts me to the role.
Having started my musical career in a church setting, I am excited by the possibility of using everything I have learned in the world of high-level professional performance to enrich the liturgical music of the community.’
Revd Leah says:
‘I am so pleased that Nick has accepted the invitation to become the next Director of Music at Lancaster Priory – he brings a wealth of experience and a passion for singing that will enable us to continue to build on the rich choral tradition of the Priory. I am looking forward to working with him as he empowers the current and next generation of church musicians in Lancaster.’
Nicholas will be at the Priory on Easter Day to say hello, and looks forward to starting in earnest in June.
