East Meets West: Two presentations and a Community Award! - 03/04/25

East Meets West has been very active lately, giving two different presentations – one in Preston and Manchester – as well as another at Lancaster Baptist Church. They have also received the High Sheriff’s Award for work in the community!

On 18th March a group of seven members of ‘East Meets West’ ( an international women’s community group which started at Lancaster Priory in 2006) gave a presentation for World Social Work Day at County Hall Preston, focusing on the group’s ‘Across the Generations’ project.  Then on 20th March another group from ‘East Meets West’ gave a presentation about their participation in an NHS led project to engage community groups in research.

On 24th March the three women who have been Co Chairs of ‘East Meets West’ met up at the home of the founder, LIz Bagley, to hear from her about its beginnings in 2006. Liz was Co Chair from 2006-2012, HilaryHopwood from 2012-2024, and Jane Lippitt who took over from Hilary in April 2024.

The High Sheriff Award – On 26th March Lana Abu Hijeh and Jane Lippitt ( current Co Chairs from ‘East’ and ‘West’) received an award from the High Sheriff, Helen Bingley, for their work in the community of Lancaster and Morecambe.
