10th-17th September 2017: Lancaster Priory Festival of Song - 10/09/17
WELCOME TO LANCASTER PRIORY’S 2017 FESTIVAL!
This is is an opportunity to give thanks to God for the glory of the human voice. We will hear soloists, small groups, and larger choirs all demonstrating the many aspects of singing from early church music to the works of today’s singer-songwriters. A Cappella, with piano accompaniment, or with
an orchestra, the human voice has the capacity to thrill, to lead us in worship, and to echo every human emotion. So do join us for a wonderful Festival of Song.
This is the most ambitious Festival we have mounted at the Priory, and we will be including concerts at different times of the day: lunchtime and rush-hour concerts will give you the opportunity to be still for a short while in the beautiful surroundings of our wonderful historic church. And while you are here, why not also visit our ‘Fig Tree’ Coffee Shop which sells FairTrade drinks and snacks?
This is is the first Priory Festival led by our new Director of Music, Don Gillthorpe, and we are also delighted to be working with several of Lancaster’s schools throughout the week, with performances by some of their highly-talented pupils.
Be assured of the warmest of welcomes to Lancaster Priory. We do hope that you will enjoy the music we have to offer through this Festival Week.
The Revd Chris Newlands, Vicar of Lancaster
Our Festival week runs from 10th-17th September.
Where three or more ticket prices are indicated for an event, these relate to the three zones on the plan. Zone one seats are the highest as they provide the best visibility. There are some restricted view seats in zone three.
